Meet our friendly, family-run team

At Active Homecare, we take pride in our dedicated team of compassionate professionals who are committed to providing the highest standard of care. Get to know the faces behind the service and see how each member brings their expertise, kindness, and passion to everything they do for our clients.

Active Homecare was founded in 2019 by Laura Maelzer, a Registered Adult Nurse with a passion for community care. After qualifying in 2013, Laura worked as a Community Nurse before completing her Specialist Postgraduate Diploma in Community District Nursing. She later led a team of nurses, developing the leadership skills that would shape her vision for Active Homecare.

Laura always believed in the power of care at home—where people feel safe, comfortable, and valued. She wanted to create more than just a care service; she envisioned a family-run homecare provider that delivers the highest standards of personalised care, where both clients and carers feel truly supported.

In 2020, Vicky Urwin, Laura’s sister, joined the company to help bring this vision to life. With a natural talent for logistics and operations, Vicky became the perfect partner in shaping and growing Active Homecare. Since joining, she has completed her Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care, further strengthening the company’s expertise and commitment to excellence.
